El Payo is the only Rumba/Nuevo Flamenco group of its class in Chicago. Their distinct sound is influenced by a rich combination of rumbas, traditional and modern Flamenco, Flamenco fused original songs, as well as a repertoire of classic Latin American songs done with a different flare. The group opened up the prestigious 2005 and 2006 USA Flamenco Festival in Chicago. They have opened the stage for such internationally known artists such as Juan Carmona, Pitingo and Lila Downs.
