'Kiss Bessemer Goodbye' is a quintessential American play about the lives of a Mexican American family living in Bessemer, Colorado in the 1970s. Lupita, the first family member to attend university, is about to graduate, a cause for celebration. The festivities turn to upheaval when she announces that instead of taking a job at a local school which was pre-arranged by her uncle, she will be moving away with her Japanese-American boyfriend. The celebration is also dimmed by Lupita's uncle, Joe, who suffers from depression since being laid off because of an ongoing strike at the steel mill. 'Kiss Bessemer Goodbye' will play in repertory and presented in Spanish with live simultaneous English translation.
