Ekklesia is a Fresh Expression of Church initiated by Daniel and Beki Lewis. Fresh Expressions are "self-organising" churches founded in order to appeal to the needs of contemporary people.

Ekklesia is primarily for people who don't really feel comfortable in a traditional Church, but still feel that there is, or might be, something beyond the mundane. All are welcome to attend, including those of other faiths (Buddhists, Jews, Pagans, Muslims, Humanists, Sikhs, Hindus etc etc).

Ekklesia will attempt to meet on the first Monday of each month. It will meet in "Keedwell Church" in Long Ashton - just west of Bristol, UK.

From a theological point of view (for those interested), Ekklesia will be distinctly contemplative - providing a safe soul-space for people to explore that which is beyond the mundane. We'll draw from ancient sources of Christianity where both community and direct experience was crucial (for instance the Celtic Church of the British Isles & France, the Desert Monastics, the Mar Thoma Indian Christians). Ekklesia will be a sub-church of All Saints (Church of England) Church in Long Ashton, however it will be open to all people - those who go to any denominational church and those who don't go to church at all. Our ritual style is partially drawn from "high anglican" and "mystic" ritual, but we have a very contemporary feel to it with extensive use of multimedia and multisensory experience.
