Event to feature Sons of the San Joaquin, stagecoach rides and cowboys galore
(Indianapolis) –Campfire smoke…horses…leather…music…cowboys—the sights, sounds and smells of the West will surround visitors during WestFest, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art.
This year’s event features the award-winning Sons of the San Joaquin, a traditional cowboy singing group. Made up of two sons and their father, the band is known around the world for their great ability to portray the cowboy heritage through traditional and original songs.
Other highlights include:
Wells Fargo stagecoach rides from noon – 3 p.m.
Storyteller and musician, Michael Smith as Bones Hooks
A real working chuckwagon
Western personalities, including Janet Gilray, John Switzer and Dovie Thomason
Family activities, including a buffalo chip toss, leather stamping, panning for gold and a chance to have you picture taken for a “wanted” poster
Western horses and other critters, including longhorn steer and birds of prey.

Admission to WestFest is $9 for adults and $5 for children age 5 and up.
