Eilen (rhymes with feelin’) Jewell's 2005 debut, Boundary Country, raised some key eyebrows amidst the bookers, writers, and DJs of Boston, her current home. References abounded to Lucinda Williams, June Carter Cash and this from The Boston Globe: “The slow organic sway of her melodies, and the sensual way she rubs against the low end of her register, will remind some of Gillian Welch, both intimate and vivid, classically framed and closely observed.” With Letters from Sinners and Strangers, on Signature Sounds, her much lauded national debut, The 27-year old Boise-born talent ups the ante.
