West Coast premiere! Water is a collaboration between esteemed interdisciplinary choreographer/dancers and MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellows Eiko & Koma and two-time Grammy Award–winning Native American flutist/composer Robert Mirabal, who created the compelling original score.

Based upon mourning rituals from around the globe and dedicated to the tragedies of September 11, this site-specific work commissioned by the Skirball Cultural Center and Lincoln Center takes place in and around the Skirball’s Reflecting Pool and forms part of Eiko & Koma’s Retrospective Project, a multiyear, multifaceted examination of the duo’s forty years of artistic collaboration. The audience is invited to move and view the performance from various angles.
