Egyptomania exhibition at Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Archive February 7, 2009

This exhibition will show the influence of Egyptian art and culture on other civilisations, ranging from ivory furniture made for Assyrian kings in the eighth century BC to cotton woven in Bolton. Rare and beautiful objects, including a Renaissance illuminated manuscript and objects made for Napoleon, will rub shoulders with modern costume jewellery, satirical prints and tourist souvenirs, demonstrating the enduring fascination Egypt has exerted over all tastes and cultures.
