Edward Pérez, an acoustic bassist and composer active in New York's latin jazz, modern jazz and South American music scenes, returns to Ryles to present a concert of inviting melodic and percussive sounds which blur the boundaries between the musical genres which he plays. He presents his arrangements of great jazz works as well as original compositions, all of which put percussion at the very center, drawing freely upon influences from the Caribbean, Spain, and his former home of coastal Peru.

The quintet features Boston's trumpet ace Greg Hopkins and Cuban piano sensation Aruan Ortiz. The band also boasts one of Boston's most versatile percussion sections: Bertram Lehmann on drums, and Paulo Stagnaro on percussion.
