"Shaking Up the Status Quo: Educational Reform in South Africa & What the World Can Learn From It," presented by Teach With Africa, features a keynote speech by Dr. Jonathan Jansen, Vice Chancellor and Rector of the University of the Free State, and a panel discussion with leading educators. Dr. Jansen has been credited with transforming race relations at his painfully divided university and has been described as "the new Nelson Mandela/Desmond Tutu combination." This free event is Saturday, February 4th, 5:30-7:30 pm at the Drew School theater, 2901 California Street, San Francisco. RSVP to [email protected] by Feb. 2.

Joining Dr. Jansen in a panel discussion are: Dr. Joel Samoff, Professor of African Studies, Stanford University; John Gilmour, Founder and Director, LEAP Science and Maths Schools, South Africa; Wanda Holland Greene, Head of The Hamlin School in San Francisco; Dr. Edward Kujawa, Dean, School of Education, Dominican Univ. of CA; Dr. Amina Mama, Professor and Dir/Women and Gender Studies Program, UC Davis; Dr. William Worger, Professor of History, UCLA.
