Get your feet wet! Look closely at the water as you walk, paddle a boat, or throw in a line - what do you see in your local lake? Discover the tiny, overlooked creatures in our own local waterways. Dig into the delicate plants, slimy scums, and microscopic wonders that go unnoticed every day. We'll learn about Washington's common aquatic plants and algae, discuss which are helpful and which are harmful to our local lakes and streams, get our feet wet in a local lake taking samples and observing lake environments, and then spend some time looking closely at our samples in a University of Washington laboratory. This day long class includes field trip, lab work and lecture. Location: Hitchcock Hall, Room 246, UW campus. Class fee is $90; pre-registration is required by March 29. To register, please e-mail [email protected] or call 206-543-9681.
