Thur, Jan 14, 5:30-7:30pm; exhibit runs through January 29th, 2010

SCRAP's 3rd annual exhibition is a look at the art of creative reuse. Featuring 67 artworks by 46 artists it is held in TWO venues, the SF Environment EcoCenter and reMake Lounge & GreenZebra Environmental Action Center. The collaboration has been a fantastic opportunity to spread the word about the wealth of programs and organizations in San Francisco that help its residents live healthier and more sustainable lives.

The show was juried by SFAC Gallery Director, Meg Shiffler, SF Chronicle's online "Art and Culture Fix" columnist and SFAI faculty, JD Beltran, and AAACC Visual Arts Coordinator, Samara Rivers. The works selected are a small look at the breadth of creative reuse inspiring artists around the country. Selected artists at the EcoCenter include Garth Amundson, Otis Bardwell, Larry Berger, Chris Chalmers & the BIOS Design Collective, Katinka Clementsmith, Aiko Lanier Cuneo, Christine Dhein, Phillip Hua, Cindy Imhoff, Julie Kornblum, emiko Oye, Diana Ruiz, Tuan Tran, Meghan Urback, and Roberta Weisenburg. Curated by Jennifer Morningstar.

Featured at the January 14th reception is a 3-hole miniature golf parking space installation by the Blanket Collaborative, "RoCocoa" canopy of chocolate box insert trays, Robert Collison's life-like cardboard dogs, and a knitted plastic bag jellyfish forest.

The exhibition is on view at the EcoCenter and the remake Lounge/GreenZebra through January 29th, 2010.

SF Environment EcoCenter provides resources, education, and support for the San Francisco public to take an active role in protecting and enhancing their urban environment.

The reMake Lounge mission is to inspire the maker spirit, foster community, and keep materials out of the landfill. It operates as a venue for handmade, repurposed, upcycled creations, and an event/meeting space.

Each year the GreenZebra guide helps direct people to the many environmentally friendly businesses in the Bay Area while benefitting schools and organizations.
