the practice of yoga was first developed as a health discipline, to increase vitality and strength for the benefit of a longer life. asanas were viewed as prescriptions, and part of a regimen that would often include herbal medicine, dietary adjustments and pranayama.

in this workshop we explore the sometimes unseen influence of eastern medicine, both ayurvedic and chinese primarily, on the practice of modern yoga. begin to understand some of the ideas behind the practice of yoga that might be viewed as "medicinal." we will discuss generally the systems-based theory that forms the basis for this approach to medicine. make the active link between their practice and the maintenance (and creation of) health overall.

this workshop is part of tranquil space's 500 hour teacher training (tt500). for more information on tt500 visit www.tranquilspace.com. continuing education (ce's) are available for yoga teachers. all students and teachers of yoga are welcome to attend!
