Mark Hudspeth, who excelled as a Division II head coach at North Alabama, guided Louisiana-Lafayette to a 9-4 record and its first ever bowl appearance last season, which happened to be his first running the program.

The Ragin Cajuns, who knocked off San Diego State 32-30 as a four point dog in last year’s New Orleans Bowl, produced a nice follow up to last season’s success, finishing the regular season with an 8-4 record.

Louisiana-Lafayette, which averaged over 34 points and 443 yards per game, carries some momentum into the New Orleans Bowl as it won four of its last five games, defeating Louisiana-Monroe, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, and Florida Atlantic by an average of 14 points per game.
