EAST AND WEST is a classic '20s silent comedy presented with a live electronic groove funk score improvised on the spot by jazz guitar great Charlie Hunter with Scott Amendola and Justin Peake.

This delightful comedy opens as Morris Brown, a New Yorker better acquainted with his checkbook than his prayerbook, returns to Galicia with his very American daughter, Mollie (Molly Picon) for a family wedding. Mollie tries to get into as much trouble as a modern girl in a traditional Spanish town can until she meets her match, an engaging young yeshiva scholar who forsakes tradition and joins the secular world to win her heart.

Live score performed by:

Charlie Hunter - Rising out of the Bay Area jazz scene with a custom eight-string guitar Charlie Hunter plays bass and melody lines simultaneously. He's recorded with musicians that include drummer Leon Parker, vibraphonist Stefon Harris and Norah Jones, who sang on two tracks for Hunter's 2001 album "Songs From the Analog Playground."

Scott Amendola - As an ambitious composer, savvy bandleader and capaciously creative foil for some of the world's most inventive musicians, Scott Amendola applies his wide-ranging rhythmic virtuosity to a vast array of settings.

Justin Peake - Under his electronic beat moniker, Beautiful Bells, Justin Peake is known for weaving beats and melodies with a swirling mass of samples and synthesizers. Music has always been at the center of Justin's life, starting with the violin at age 4, and later the piano at age 6. Justin's family history is deeply rooted in Jazz.
