Bring the whole family to Earth Stroll on Saturday, April 23 as we celebrate Earth Day and the 10th anniversary of Crissy Field’s historic transformation from former military airfield to beloved national park. Earth Stroll is an official event of National Park Week and engaging, entertaining journey that highlights simple steps you can take to make a healthier planet—and a healthy you!

Meet rescue animals from Wildcare and some of Tree Frog Trek’s traveling reptiles, before wiggling your way over to check out the worm compost bins. Play parachute games, bounce a giant beach ball, build sandcastles, and test your urban riding skills in a bike rodeo—complete with a range helmets and bikes to borrow. The day offers an abundance of family-friendly outdoor activities all centered around the spectacular Crissy Field Center located on East Beach in the Presidio.

Express your creative side by using natural materials to build enviro-art sculptures and follow the shorebird maze along the Crissy Field Marsh. Then, you can learn about ethnobotany while making traditional tortillas with “Juana Briones,” and try your hand at traditional Ohlone hoop and stick games. Plus there will be a special guest appearance by “Chipper” the enthusiastic eco-conscious city squirrel who will share his outdoor adventures from the book, Let’s Stroll Crissy Field.

The event is FREE and for all ages; donate $5 and receive a special Crissy Field 10th Anniversary Commemorative Passport.

Please note: event parking will be limited and public transport is strongly encouraged. Crissy Field Center is accessible via MUNI #28, 30 & 43 lines and you can visit www.crissyfield.org for transportation details. Overflow parking will be available along Gorgas Avenue from Halleck Street toward and behind the Presidio Community YMCA Letterman Gym and pool.

Earth Stroll is an official event of National Park Week and is hosted by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the National Park Service, the Presidio Trust and the Presidio Community YMCA. We would like to thank Whole Foods and Red Tricycle for their in-kind and promotional support.
