Early Music Southwest at Rienzi: “The Historical Piano” May 13, 2012

Celebrate Mother's Day with a beautiful afternoon at Rienzi. Treat your mom to a performance by Early Music Southwest, an international collaboration of baroque-music professionals. EMSW specializes in chamber music of the 17th and 18th centuries on original instruments, perfectly complementing the unique historical environment of Rienzi’s collection.

At this Mother's Day recital, the popular Timothy Hester—fortepianist and University of Houston associate professor—returns to perform his fourth recital at Rienzi on a 1795 replica fortepiano donated to the University of Houston by Marjorie Horning. "The Historical Piano" program features works by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Muzio Clementi, Jan Ladislaus Dussek, and Franz Joseph Haydn.

The recital is followed by a reception with wine and light hors d’oeuvres. Each mom receives a small token of appreciation after the performance.
