Early Derby: A Day At The Races April 16, 2011

It doesn't have to be May to spend a day at the races! Hawthorne has been thrilling horse racing fans since 1891, and now they want to thrill you. Join The Local Tourist and Hawthorne Race Course for this day of fun, food, drinks, and live horse racing.

Early Derby celebrates the tradition of horse racing in style. We'll have exclusive access to a scrumptious all-you-can-eat buffet and beer, wine, and soda inside the historic Gold Cup Dining Room overlooking the finish line and featuring over 50 HDTVs plus flat panel TVs on every table.

Outside catch the thrill of live racing and they'll be bringing small groups of us down to the paddocks - right there with the horses and jockeys - throughout the day. You don't even have to worry about driving, since Chicago Trolley is providing free transportation from Michigan and Wacker!
