Physics is Nature's design for the universe. The University of Toronto's Department of Physics
in conjunction with the Design Exchange present informal noon hour talks about a diverse array of current topics.

As the Earth's climate warms, the melting of each ice sheet and glacier will produce a highly distinct pattern of sea-level change. Professor Mitrovica will discuss how scientists are using these patterns to "fingerprint" recent instabilities in the polar ice sheets and to predict future changes in coastlines.

About the Speaker:

Professor Mitrovica is a geophysicist at the forefront of research seeking to better understand our planet not as a static ball, but as a dynamic interplay between atmosphere, water, continents and the deep Earth.
