Are you getting tired of the same old campfire food? Hotdogs, chips, s’mores? Join us in the campground Saturday, May 3rd for a dutch oven cooking demonstration (2:00pm) and supper (5:00pm.)

“I am often asked what can you cook in a dutch oven? My answer is always, “anything you can cook at home can be cooked in a dutch oven”,” says Tom Franklin. Tom is a campfire connoisseur, living history re-enactor, all-around outdoorsman, and the demonstrator for this fun campfire program. “We’ll talk about dutch ovens, how to care for them, how to cook in them, and how to build the perfect fire,” says Tom.

The dutch oven demonstration runs from 2:00-3:00pm (or longer if you’d like) in the campground and is free to the public after paying the gate fee. Bring a lawnchair if you can. Then at 5:00pm, all the dutch oven cooked food will be ready for eating. We’ll have a meat dish, potatoes, vegetables, cobbler, and refreshments at a cost of $5/adult and $3/child under 10. Please pre-register by calling (765) 649-8128 to help us prepare. Bring your money and your appetite the day of the demonstration.

Public parking is available at the campground entrance. Admission to the park is $5 for in-state vehicles, $7 for out-of-state vehicles. For questions, contact the Mounds State Park Interpretive Center at (765) 649-8128.
