Durer's engraving of 'Adam and Eve,' also known as 'The Fall of Man,' is admired for its technical mastery and representation of paradisiacal beauty. Despite these qualities, modern viewers may find it conventional, barely distinguishable from other images of Adam and Eve plucking the forbidden fruit. A closer look at its narrative contents, however, reveals an intense, unfolding drama and significant theological implications. Dr. Rangsook Yoon, Visiting Professor of Art at Central College, will help interpret this famous image in an illustrated lecture.
