Duo Brazil: Soprano Donna Brown & Guitarist Andrew Mah August 14, 2012

Renowned for the floating, angelic quality of her voice, Canada’s Donna Brown quickly became one of the leading sopranos in Europe, where she lived for more than twenty years. A Festival favourite, she returns to Vancouver in the first of two performances that showcase her vocal versatility (see page 33). In Duo Brazil, she teams with Ottawa guitarist Andrew Mah, who has taken special interest in music of Brazil and the Cape Verde Islands, for a program that ranges from the dreamy sounds of the Bachianas Brasileiras of Villa Lobos to the exuberance of Carnaval season in Rio.
