DUMBLUCK

DUMBLUCK dynamically infuses punk-influenced rock with an undercurrent of bouncy reggae rhythms and funky stylings—resulting in a distinct sound that some have dubbed as The Police for the new millennium.

Hailing from Los Angeles and Orange County, the So-Cal trio features Jim Perkins on guitar and lead vocals, Phil Valdovinos on drums and Johnny Baldaray on bass and vocals. No strangers to the local music scene, this hard-hitting band has developed a reputation for commanding, high-energy live shows. Rapidly amassing fervent fans, DUMBLUCK have shared the stage with Bad Religion, Unwritten Law, Pepper, Fishbone, Alien Ant Farm, Long Beach Shortbus, Violent Femmes and Junior Reid to name a few.

DUMBLUCK first gained national exposure when their adrenaline-rushed sound was embraced by the X Games, who handpicked the band’s exuberant cover of ‘70’s funk group, Rare Earth’s “I Just Want To Celebrate” as the anthem for the Summer X Games. The tune grabbed the attention of ESPN, who then had the band record renditions of CCR’s “The Night Time is the Right Time” and J Geils Band’s “House Party” for use as the theme music for the cable network’s “Sunday Night Baseball” in ’05 and it’s College Basketball coverage in ’06.

Soon after, DUMBLUCK headed back into the studio to finish recording a full-length album with co-producers the Wizards of Oz. With their debut album, “Sweetmilk Underground” (released April 2006) DUMBLUCK has accomplished the difficult feat of capturing the band’s live intensity on record. Featuring twelve stellar tracks, the album effortlessly shifts gears between edgier, emotional tunes (“One Life More”, “Down for Whatever”) and bouncy, laidback melodies (“Real Again”, “Permanent”.) Currently assaulting the airwaves are “Favorite Song” and “Far Inside”—getting spins on Southern California’s alt-rock station, X103.9 FM.

DUMBLUCK are busy touring and promoting their just released independent debut CD. Recent highlights include last month’s performance at ESPN’s Summer X Games at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

Big Dume

Reflective of the Malibu coastline for which they are named, Big Dume deliver a musical blend of power, beauty and danger while seductively evoking extraordinary emotion. Formed in early 2004 by singer/songwriter Brandon Jenner and a close knit group of musicians emerging from the growing Malibu music scene, Big Dume released their debut full-length CD titled, Inside My Head, in July ‘05.

A commanding presence on stage, Brandon Jenner, at age 24, is in every way a natural born star. With a pedigree and environment overflowing with talent and charisma, Brandon is the first-born of gold-medal Olympian Bruce Jenner and pop-culture beauty and award winning lyricist, Linda Thompson. Thompson later married 14-time GRAMMY Award winning producer David Foster, who has been a close part of Brandon’s life and growth for 20 years.

Big Dume’s lineup includes a unique set of talented players and characters that help create the magic both on stage and in the studio. Drummer Chris Steele holds a master’s degree in jazz studies and anchors the rhythms while bringing innovative percussion technique to an original rock sound. Bassist Joe Ayoub is an experienced touring artist, writer and producer who has also worked with Liz Phair, Marvin Sapp and Tyler Hilton, among others. Additional vocals and piano are delivered by the beautiful young talent, Leah Felder, who like Jenner is a life-long native of Malibu. Daughter of the legendary original Eagles lead guitarist Don Felder, Leah has formally trained and studied voice and classical dance for most of her life. Her soulful sound and energy have become another highlight of Big Dume’s dynamic live performances.

With a keen sense of self and creative drive, Brandon and his younger brother Brody recently collaborated in creating and producing “The Princes of Malibu” series that aired on Fox Television.

Vine Street Lounge

Giving The Viper Room and The Roxy a run for their rock-'n-roll legacy, this lavish new rock club caters to the music-lover crowd in a plushy lounge atmosphere.

Owned by Peter Zamani, who also owns the lounge's restaurant neighbor Hollywood & Vine, the interior consists of a luminescent bar, checkered patterned mirrors, white leather booths, leopard print , 14 plasma screens, iconic rock photography of legends like Janis Joplin, and cocktail waitresses sporting short black dresses and sweet smiles—a nice change from the typical ex-groupie in a white wife beater ignoring our drink order at the bar. But what sets the space apart is its fresh and sincere vibe.
