Garrett County Press presents an art opening inspired by it?s latest release, The George W. Bush Coloring Book. This national exhibition was curated by Karen Ocker, illustrator of the coloring book.

The exhibition was organized by Ocker in an effort to offer a creative platform for artists and activists to voice their opinion. It's New Orleans debut coincided with the release party of the book on May 7th, 2004 and featured the work of Karen Ocker along with 16 additional artists, activists and students from around the country including New York, Chicago and New Orleans.

Focusing on pages from the coloring book, artists were asked to ?color in? a page or quote that inspired them, but to also interpret the directions loosely, resulting in a range of mediums and styles that do not stay within the lines. Select participants include a puppeteer, a woodworking artist, a glass artist, a fashion designer, a silk screener, folk artists, grafiti artists, painters, and political activists, age 8 to 87. Three local, Chicago artists, Carlos Cabalu, Jeremy Shulz and Jeff Stein join the roster of participants and make their debut at Barbara?s Bookstore on June 23rd, 2004.
