DTES Photo Contest - Gallery Reception! December 1, 2004

Opening reception for a month-long exhibition of the top 40 photos from this year's Downtown Eastside Photo Contest at Gallery Gache. 200 cameras were distributed to residents of the DTES and collected three days later; the resulting 3500 photos were then judged by a panel of professional photographers, and the top 40 chosen. 16 of those are in Hope In Shadows, the 2005 DTES Portrait Calendar just released and distributed through a citywide street and retail sales program.
