World renowned poetry slam champions from all over are coming to Los Angeles for the 4th Annual Drums Inside Your Chest, a critically acclaimed performance poetry concert series created and curated by actress/author Amber Tamlyn. The all ages event will be held at the Largo Coronet Theatre on Saturday, August 14th.

This year’s event features performances by Patricia Smith (four time National Poetry Slam champion and National Book Award finalist ), Anis Mojgani (two-time National Poetry Slam individual champion), Cristen O’Keefe Aptowicz (founder and host of NYC-Urbana and three-time National Poetry Slam champion), CR Avery (famous Candian beat-box poet, outlaw hip-hop harmonica player), and Rob Sturma (aka Rat Pack Slim, Los Angeles founder and host of the slam venue Green and director of the Oklahoma Young Writers' Collective). The show also features special musical guests and local shoegaze rockers, Gliss and will be hosted by author/musician Derrick Brown and magician Rob Zabrecky (of Possum Dixon and Magic Castle fame).

Launched at the Brentwood Theatre in 2007, and then taken downtown to the Los Angeles Theatre Centre in 2008 and 2009, this fourth installment of the series finds itself deep in the heart of Hollywood in Largo’s new location at the old Coronet Theatre on La Cienega Boulevard. The intimate, old-theatre style venue will set an eccentric backdrop for the eclectic, poetry revival magic of the Drums Inside Your Chest. Proceeds from ticket sales and donations will benefit the nonprofit Write Now Poetry Society. Presale tickets will be available online at www.poetrytickets.com and at the Largo ticket booth during normal business hours.
