Drop Beats, Not Bombs - A Battle for Peace with Music with DJ Aaron James and MoCity at Ai. Since first meeting early this year in New Delhi, India, DJ Aaron James from New York and Mohammed Abood (aka DJ MoCity) of Baghdad,knew they had a strong connection that transcended all boundaries. After only their second meeting, a great idea was born. Drop Beats Not Bombs - From New York to Baghdad. Not a party, but an Event, 9 months in the making. Music that defies geography. An intense journey that sweeps us above all differences. A battle for peace with music inspired by their culture. This is to be deeper than just a classic dj battle though. This is to convey seriousness and a message in a sonic boom. This is take a stand. One love, One world, through music, one of the principal unifiers of people ... the mother tongue of universal language. Expect to hear the cream of the crop of Old School/New School Hip Hop, Classics, Hip House, Dancehall/Reggae, Club Bangers and Anthems, Funky Breaks, Crunk, Baltimore Gutter, Dubstep, and whatever else gets your fine selves shakin' and feet off the floor. Since the initial invasion of sovereign Iraq, the US and its allies have reduced most of Baghdad, and much of Iraq, to rubble ,in the process committing crimes against humanity undermining the Rule of Law and established Geneva Conventions); destabilizing the entire region (so that crackpots and despots are now relishing greater power); and creating a whole new generation - and likely, generations to come -of terrorists in the process. It has been one of the single most unimaginably counterintuitive debacle in US Foreign Policy in the history of the country. It is the Hiroshima of Lunacy, Absurdity, and (deep) Tragedy. The repercussions will be felt for decades to come, through generations. From Bush's impossibly misguided disaster leading to the fall of the US economy, and then like dominos, the global economy, it was/is the greatest meltdown of world order in Modern times. We are experiencing a landslide of stupidity in global politics, and it is up to us all to attempt to reverse the slide into further anarchy and violence. To the extent that Mohammed and I are living, breathing, globe-trotting citizens of our countries, we understand the difference between government ... and the people. We are the people. We represent Hope and Unity in a toxic and destructive era between two countries which have battled for years. We want to bring a flame of Hope to fuel the hopes of the younger generations. We want to take a stand that Peace through War is a fallacy perpetrated by governments to accomplish their hidden agendas. As individuals we are not nearly as powerful as in a collective. By joining us, you are Supporting us. By joining forces, we are combining Resources. We are fighting a war, it's true, but the enemy is not each other, the enemy is Stupidity, Ignorance, Greed, Arrogance, blind Nationalism, and Madness. We are soldiers, it's true. But In this war, we are the soldiers of Bliss. And this is a battle we must, and will win.
