SURREALIST PAINTER JACLYN MEDNICOV
IN HER SOLO SHOW
?DREAMING IN COLOR??
OPENING FEBRUARY 4th, 2005

Flourishing artist Jaclyn Mednicov releases her latest work in her one-woman show, ?Dreaming in Color?? Mednicov?s surrealistic style is particularly characterized by a sense of strong femininity and serene depth.

?My work is about color and more about what?s going on in my life.

Each painting unveils a vibrant, metaphorical world for individual interpretation. Alongside her work in acrylics and clay, Mednicov presents another medium of design: textiles.

?I?m drawn to different fabrics and beading. It adds a twist to my work, and also relates to my surroundings here in New York.?

Originally from the Deerfield, IL near Chicago, Mednicov found her passion in art as she prepared to leave high school.

After graduating from the University of Kansas with a B.F.A. in painting in 1999, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she expanded her portfolio at the Santa Monica Fine Arts Studios and participated in numerous group and solo shows.

Moving to Brooklyn, New York, two years ago she is proud to present her creative journal to Manhattan. ?Every time I change, I come up with a new discovery, and the work changes.?

?I love the idea of creating something that hasn?t existed.?

?Dreaming in Color?? opening reception is on February 4th from 4pm to 8pm at the 43 8th Avenue Gallery. The exhibit runs until February 13th.
