FATE is the record Dr. Dog was destined to make, a timeless yet contemporary distillation of the band’s open-armed, big-hearted sound taken to new heights of craft and creativity. Dr. Dog bonded FATE with the sound of one of the album’s most frequent lyrical symbols, the train. A romantic, distinctly American metaphor, the railroad ties the songs together, spanning the many parallels in the process in which Dr. Dog was immersed. They viewed themselves as hard-working craftsmen, delighted in the homonymy of the railroad and recorded tracks. Most significantly, it seemed an ideal physical manifestation of fate itself.
Forward-thinking but reflective, searching yet remarkably confident, FATE is the work of an extraordinary band operating full steam ahead and perhaps, inevitably. Dr. Dog has always trod its own analogous path, a band of outsiders from the start, now more than ever holding true to its own inimitable place in the universe.

The Growlers
The Growlers are a rock and pop group formed in Long Beach, Ca., in 2006. With their years of stardom yet to come, the band consists of Brooks Nielson (vocals) Scott Montoya(bass guitar, vocals,), Matt Taylor(lead guitar, vocals) and Brian “don’t surf” Stewart (drums, vocals).
Although their initial musical style was rooted in 1960s rock n’ roll and skiffle, the group works with different musical genres, ranging from ice flossing hip-hop to psychedelic rock. Their clothes, style and statements have made them trend-setters, while their growing social awareness sees their influence extend into cultural revolutions.
During the release of their first album and their ongoing singles releases, they have experimented with recording techniques that have the ability to bend sound in ways only drugs can. The Growlers sound is best exemplified through Nielson’s cryptic lyrics and the relationship it has with Taylor’s vocals; they sound as if they were made for each other. And, though they complete each other, they compel and challenge one another in ways a Growler fan can truly understand. Perhaps it is what The Growler fan feels while taking part in the drug wave of bent sound.
