Dr Robert (Bob) Park To Speak On Superstition March 9, 2010

Dr. Robert L. (Bob) Park, a University of Maryland research professor and best-selling author will discuss his book Superstition: Belief in the Age of Science.

In his latest book, Park examines why, with today’s vast scientific knowledge, people persist in superstitious convictions. In what is sure to be a lively discussion, Park will take on supernatural beliefs from religion and the afterlife to New Age spiritualism and faith-based medical claims.

The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. in room 6137 in McKeldin Library. Dr. Park will answer questions following his presentation, and copies of Superstition will be available for purchase and signing. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
