Gear up at Third Wednesday for Downtown Culver City’s CicLAvia Celebration on Sunday, April 21, when Downtown Culver City will be a ‘hub’ for the “To the Sea” CicLAvia route spanning 15 miles of open road from Downtown to Venice. Get a sneak peek of the spoke-whirling action with Third Wednesday drink and menu specials at participating restaurants and bars. Cyclists can warm up those chains for the main event and check out the streets from a whole new perspective by riding their bikes along the tree-lined boulevards. Lock up at a public bike rack and stop in at one of Downtown’s unique boutiques, art galleries, spas or stores. Leave the four-wheeler at home and ride the rails to the Expo Line Culver City Station — your best bet when you return on Sunday for the CicLAvia Celebration, as Main Street will be closed to traffic. Sunday’s festivities will feature a DJ from MYFM spinning at the “hub” and entertainment from Marston, Lord of the Cello; AK and her Kalashnikovs; Slugger O’ Toole; and an assortment of painters, chalk artists and street entertainers. Culver City’s downtown area is Southern California’s best kept secret, featuring a wonderful mix of historic buildings, boutiques, theaters, galleries and unique restaurants opening on to tree-lined streets.
