Down The Lawson Track is a tribute in songs, music and stories, to Henry Lawson (1867-1922), Australia’s greatest short story writer and poet. Lawson was the first Australian-born writer to give a true and vivid picture of his country and its people.

He overcame deafness, hardship, alcoholism and depression, and these conditions informed his work. On his death in 1922 he was given a state funeral, an unprecedented honour, and enormous crowds turned out to pay their respects to this poet of the people.

Down The Lawson Track is performed by singer Martyn Wyndham-Read with musicians Iris Bishop, Gary Holder, and Jackie Oates, and the readings are by Shirley Collins and Pip Barnes.
