Doug Beavers, trombonist and arranger with Eddie Palmieri, Spanish Harlem Orchestra and the Mingus Big Band, has released Two Shades Of Nude, the recording debut of his all-star nonet “9”. Beavers contributes very sophisticated, adventurous and colorful arrangements to all nine selections, four of which are his originals. He and his group, which will feature Cuban master drummer Dafnis Prieto, will explore such pieces as Herbie Hancock's “Tell Me A Bedtime Story,” Clare Fischer's “Pensativa” and a haunting through-composed rendition of Chick Corea's obscure “Gemini” during a CD release celebration at Yoshi’s Oakland Friday, September 17th.

Of Dafnis Prieto the The New York Times writes, “"Bedazzlement is a proven strategy for Mr. Prieto, a spectacularly proficient Cuban drummer who arrived in New York a decade ago."

In exceedingly high demand as a cutting edge trombonist as well as an internationally-renown producer, composer, orchestrator and “arranger of the first-class” (Harvey Siders, JazzTimes), Doug Beavers has become known for a meticulous attention to quality and his “unsurpassed work ethic” (Jim Harrington, The Concert Blog) in his music. These defining qualities have earned him a Grammy® award for his work on Latin legend Eddie Palmieri’s star-studded release Listen Here (2006), as well as the opportunity to perform, tour, record and collaborate with world-class musicians including Eddie Palmieri (La Perfecta II, Ritmo Caliente, Listen Here), Rosemary Clooney (Sentimental Journey, The Last Concert), Mingus Big Band, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval, Brian Culbertson, Pete Escovedo and countless others.
