New works by New York based painter Nancy Friedemann and Kansas City sculptor, Tracy Krumm come together in this exhibition that explores women's roll in our culture. Friedemann's interest in "the feminine" and women's historical association with flowers, lace, and embroidery motivated her to monumentalize these items in her paintings suggesting the work of women has been overlooked in our history. Krumm uses "gender specific" techniques such as crochet and blacksmithing in her work to question identity, duality, and beauty. Krumm also incorporates reclaimed industrial and domestic objects in her works to explore the juxtaposition of modern technology and the hand-made.
