Doris A Derby & Susan J Ross: Photo-Griots July 31, 2009

Doris Derby is an educator and artist who was involved in the American Civil Rights Movement. Sue Ross referes to herself as a Griot of the African American community. In the African tradition, the griot is the oral historian holding the essence of African history and culture through the word.
