Festival and Winners announced Thursday, September 17 through Saturday, September 19, 2009. The Doorpost Film Project (www.thedoorpost.com) wants to know: "what's your word?" Doorpost is challenging filmmakers to create a film seven minutes or less inspired by one of five words: freedom, redemption, humility, forgiveness or joy. Doorpost will post qualifying entries online and an independent panel of esteemed judges along with online voters will select ten finalists. Each of the finalists will be awarded a production budget of $30,000 to develop a new film based on the word hope. Filmmakers receiving the three highest scores from industry judges and online voters will be awarded cash prizes of $100,000, $35,000 and $25,000 respectively.

Early registration for the competition begins Jan. 1, 2009, and online voting begins April 1, 2009. On May 15, 2009, the ten finalists will be selected to attend a pre-production meeting in Jacksonville, Fla., to help plan their hope projects. Filmmakers will have approximately three months to produce their films about hope. Voting on the final-round films will begin on September 1, lasting until Sept. 16, 2009. All finalists will attend a symposium in Nashville beginning September 17, 2009, with an awards ceremony on September 19 where three winning filmmakers will be announced and presented cash prizes.
