Programme of Events

10:20am Parade to Mansion House
The assembled groups will form up at the top of Hallgate, Doncaster and march to the Mansion House.

10:30am Armed Forces Day Flag Raising Ceremony.
The assembled groups will pause in front the Mansion House and undertake the raising of the Armed Forces Day Official Flag.

10:45am Parade to Minster of St. George
Parade will continue down Frenchgate across Trafford Way and into the Minster of St.George.

11:00am Service in Minster of St. George
All proceeds of this Service will be given to the Help for Heroes Charity.

12:15pm Travel to Castle Park Stadium
Transport will be provided to take people who would like to be involved to Castle Park Rugby Stadium for an afternoon of related activities.

12:45pm Official Opening of Event by Ben Parkinson and Welcome by Civic Mayor
To commence the event, Ben Parkinson will open the event beside the flagpole in the courtyard of the Stadium. Civic Mayor will give a short address.

13:00pm Refreshments will be served.

Rugby Tournament commences.
Rugby Sevens tournament featuring serving military personnel and guest teams will commence.
Reminiscence Project commences.
Young people will undertake a Reminiscence project, recording the memories, thoughts, comments and aspirations of veterans, munitions workers, Bevin Boys, Womens Land Army Ladies, serving military personnel, cadets, evacuees and War Widows

Exhibition commences
All attending groups will have the opportunity to provide an information stall and network with all attendees.
Use of climbing/ physical training equipment commences There will be a display of military vehicles and weapons. Young people and cadets will have the opportunity to use physical training equipment under supervision from serving military personnel

13:45pm War Time Tea Party/ Lunch
Guests will be invited to enjoy a War Time Luncheon, with a typical street party theme.

15:00pm Continuation of Activities

16:00pm Rugby Tournament Finals
The assembled guests will have the opportunity to watch the climax of the rugby 7’s tournament, with the winners of the Men’s, Ladies’ and Veteran’s categories aiming for victory.

16:30pm Presentation of Trophies
The High Sheriff of South Yorkshire will present the winning teams and runners-up with their trophies.

16:45pm Closing Speeches
The Civic Mayor of Doncaster, High Sheriff and Deputy Lord Lieutenant will say a few words.
16:50pm Sunset Ceremony
Everyone at the event will gather around the courtyard to take part in this solemn and poignant ceremony to end the activities of the day.
