Merchants in Havana, Florida are joining together with members of the Tallahassee Region Antique Auto Club of America (TRAACA) to seek donations for packages to be sent to our deployed troops overseas.
Requested items include toiletries (toothpaste and brushes, floss, deodorants, tampons, chapstick, sunscreen, insect repellent, combs, Q-tips, band-aids, aspirin, etc.), non-perishable snacks (trail mix, beef jerky, granola bars, gum, coffee and tea packets, etc.), and other assorted items (pre-paid phone cards, paperback books, cd’s, dvd’s, disposable cameras, playing cards, pens, puzzle books, batteries, etc.).
There are four drop-off locations in Havana, Florida 32333:
Havana Herald - 103 West 7th Avenue
Joanie’s Gourmet Market - 102 West 8th Avenue
Mirror Image Antiques - 303 First Street NW
Traditions - 206 North Main Street
Monetary donations will be used for shipping costs and additional purchases for our military members overseas. Please contact Rick or Sandi Beare Schenker at 850.539.7422 or Bob Lauther at 850.539.8424 for additional information. Donations will be accepted through May and June.
Members of TRAACA will hold a Cruise In for the Troops on Saturday, May 29th in downtown historic Havana. Antique and classic car owners will be driving into Havana, Florida to visit during the day before leaving for other activities.
