THE OFFS Live @ Broadway Studios / Mabuhay - Sunday, September 16, 7PM
'THE OFFS', One of the top tier punk bands from 1977 - 1983 are reuniting for the first time in thirty years!

On SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2012 the original BROADWAY STUDIOS will showcase a special tribute to THE OFFS', honoring late members DON VINYL, OLGA DE VOLGA, FAST FLOYD, BOBBY MARTIN and original member CHRIS OLSON (Co-founder of L'Egregore, who will perform earlier in the evening in honor of his memory).

Originator and main song writer BILLY HAWK (playing his original '624803' telecaster), ROBERT MORGAN (who replaced original bassist OLGA DE VOLGA) and JOHNNY GENOCIDE (who replaced original rhythm guitarist FRED WILLIAMS) will be performing well-known OFFS songs such as 'Everyone's A Bigot', 'Zero Degrees' and 'Johnny Too Bad'. Joining them on drums is GREG LANGSTON (The Sea Hags', Tuxedo Moon', 'No Alternative') and other special guests. Stepping into DIRK DIRKSEN'S shoes as MC will be GEOFF POND, who many remember (along with PAUL RAT) was the producer of many punk events during that time at 330 Grove and Temple Beautiful.

Perhaps one of the most offbeat punk bands of that time, THE OFFS' played a peculiar blend of songs directly influenced by R&B, Industrial, Funk, Reggae and Punk. DON VINYL was a standout among many lead singers, crooning, yipping, growling, shouting and pogoing, driving audiences into a frenzy. BILLY HAWK's rhythms and buzzsaw guitar leads also set THE OFF's' above the fray. Different drummers and bass players changed the songs, giving them new flavors and direction. And adding saxophone to the mix was an unheard of thing at that time for a 'punk' band.

The first act will be a special tribute to CHRISTOPHER OLSON who passed away on July 15th of this year. CHRIS was iconic, a well-known and much adored friend to many. Many have forgotten he was the drummer on the 'Johnny Too Bad', '624803' single and that he was prolific in the SF music scene. A limited edition 'ANGRY DUO' tribute album of his music career will be given to the few who are lucky to receive it (first come, first serve). Additionally, there will be a photo and video retrospective on the big screen.

Next, 'L'Egregore' the group Chris co-founded with Sardonique, will perform a short set of 19th-Century lost works of poetry set to 21st Century beats.

The headliner (including a video retrospective) will be a full set by THE OFFs'

SPECIAL TREAT! Go downstairs and hang out at the original MABUHAY GARDENS, lounge at the bar and have your photo taken against the infamous brick wall.

THIS EVENT IS BEING PRODUCED IN ASSOCIATION WITH BROADWAY STUDIOS, CRACK IN THE WORLD Productions, SECRET FARM Productions, REAL POP Records and REALITY CHECK TV.
