While at first glance, an art show about dogs called DOGMA seems born from an obvious pun. But in today’s modern society, these dogs are playing key roles in redefining what a modern family is. No longer just a trusty sidekick, they’ve become a part of our daily lives. And while the expression goes “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”, loyalty, non-judgment and unconditional love are a few tricks we could learn from our four-legged counterparts.

Having never been a dog owner himself, Blank takes liberties in his art to express the range of breeds through an eclectic batch of expressive styles. Limited and open edition prints will be available for sale.

“My ultimate goal is to match my passion for art with the passion these owners have for their dogs.” — Cliff Blank

Blank is already working on similar follow-up art shows Vary Strange(rs) based on humans and DOGMA II.

DOGMA Art Show runs from December 2 to 14 with the opening reception December 4 at 7pm and is hosted by Yaletown Gallery. If your dog is comfortable around other dogs and people, Yaletown Gallery is encouraging you to bring your dog to the opening.
