Documentary "Becoming American" September 15, 2006

Episode 1: "Gold Mountain Dreams," directed by Bill Moyers, produced in 2003, 87 minutes. What does it mean to become an American? What is lost and gained, both personally and culturally, when one sheds part of one's heritage to make way for a new self-identity? This engaging Bill Moyers documentary series explores these questions through the dramatic experience of the Chinese in America.
