He is a ten year veteran of the turntablist scene and a mainstay in the New York hip-hop underground. As a member of 5th Platoon, he has shared the stage with many artists across the Hip Hop spectrum from De La Soul, Company Flow and Biz Markie, to LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes and Wyclef Jean. Mike Reed is a musician, composer and presenter based in Chicago. As a drummer, Reed has been part of the Chicago jazz and improvised music community since 1997. As a leader he has released two critically acclaimed albums by his cross-genre group The Treehouse Project, and, more recently, the debut recording of his quintet Loose Assembly and a record of improvised duets. He currently is a member of The David Boykin Expanse , Rob Mazurek's Exploding Star Orchestra and Josh Berman Quartet.
