If you've ever been to a nightclub or followed dance music in New York, then you've heard the name Jonathan Peters. The beloved DJ/producer rose to prominence in the mid-'90s, via a Saturday night residency at one of the city's most storied nightclubs, Sound Factory. It was here where crowds first heard his blend of melody, techno, percussion and rhythm, featuring music from artists as iconic as Whitney Houston and Madonna, and as underground as Green Velvet and Rui Da Silva. The combination of familiar, unexpected and adventurous - often spread over epic, 20-plus-hour sets - quickly made him one of the most popular DJs in New York City history. In 2006, his legion of fans made it official, voting him to the top of DJ Times magazine's inaugural "America's Best DJ" poll. In addition to his music, Peters is known for his spectacular productions: Eye-popping light shows, intense sound, and costumed troupes of dancers, actors and performers.
