OPENS ITS CURTAINS AND WELCOMES AUDIENCES FOR FALL 2012 SHOWS

Divorce – The Musical…Better Mad than Sad, a new, modern, Cabaret show created, produced and led by esteemed choreographer, director and philanthropist, Ruthe Ponturo, will present eight shows in the fall of 2012 at the Triad Theater in New York City (158 West 72nd Street, New York, New York) beginning on Friday, September 28, 2012. The eight shows will be the first productions of the new musical.

The showcase performances will run from late September through mid-October and will be Ruthe Ponturo’s New York City production debut. After 34 years of married bliss, Ruthe’s husband announced that he wanted a divorce, and soon thereafter Divorce – The Musical…Better Mad than Sad was created. Audiences will sing along and dance to the relatable themes the musical offers.

The exact dates of the shows are Friday, September 28th, two performances on Friday, October 5th, Saturday, October 6th, Thursday, October 11th, two performances on Friday, October 12th, and the last performance will be on Saturday October, 13th.

Divorce – The Musical…Better Mad than Sad, was created when Mrs. Ruthe Ponturo received the shock of her life; her husband of 34 years announced he wanted a divorce. Instead of getting sad, Ruthe got mad, teamed up with renowned musical director, John Thomas Fischer, and poured all of her creative energy into creating one witty, fun, and inspiring Cabaret show. Rosemary Kalikow, former producer of shows like “Live with Regis & Kathie Lee,” and “The View,” is working alongside Ruthe as co-producer. About Ruthe Ponturo
Mrs. Ruthe Ponturo is an experienced dancer, actress, choreographer and teacher who has honed her theatrical skills working in New York City and St. Louis. She is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a BFA in Theatre, and a Masters Degree in Acting and Directing. Ruthe is also an active philanthropist, serving the greater good as a board member of Rosie O’Donnell’s educational foundation “Rosie’s Theatre Kids,” as well as board member of “The Humane Society of New York.”
