(University of Toronto) The Graduate Centre for Study of Drama is pleased to host this year's conference and performance-based festival which sets out to address the ever-expanding definition of culture and the question of what constitutes a cultural group in theatre. F.O.O.T. provides a forum for scholars and artists to engage in discussion through papers, performances, talk-backs and panels.

The conference opens with keynote speaker Ric Knowles on Thursday February 15 at 8pm. Paper panels will follow on Friday and Saturday, as well as three nights of performance. The performances kick-off with Anusree Roy's Letters to my Grandma on Thursday February 15 following the keynote address; Jessica Glanfield's That Indescribable Life and Thomas Jones's Playground will be presented on Friday February 6; and Phyllis Wong, Cynthia Chwen-Woan Kuan and Jen Yin Lin's Re-Imagining Yellow and Maki Yi's Gramma close off the conference on Saturday February 17. Performances begin at 8:00pm.

On Friday February 16 an artistic panel featuring Philip Akin of Obsidian Theatre, Yvette Nolan of Native Earth, Holly Lewis of Theatrefront and Nina Lee Aquino of fu-GEN will be held from 1pm-3pm.

Admission to the papers and all panels is free.
