So familiar and iconic an image that we barely register it, da Vinci’s "The Last Supper" repays a close look. Ross King, author of the bestselling "Brunelleschi’s Dome" and "The Judgment of Paris," combines history and a deep knowledge of the painting to set the 1495 masterpiece in the context of both the Italian Renaissance and its creator’s life. King is a novelist and non-fiction writer from Estevan, Saskatchewan, and winner of the Governor-General's Literary Award (2006). At this fun, varied 2 ½ hour program (2 pm–4:30 pm), Italian Renaissance specialist Jane Tylus talks about Leonardo’s Milan; then, acclaimed writer Ross King, author of Leonardo and the Last Supper, tells the story behind this remarkable painting.
