"Discovery" / Boston Review Poetry Contest Winners May 5, 2008

The Joan Leiman Jacobson Poetry Prizes are presented by the BOSTON REVIEW poetry editor Timothy Donnelly. Over the decades, this contest, formerly called the "Discovery"/THE NATION Poetry Contest, has discovered such poets as Mark Strand, Marilyn Hacker, Michael Collier, Mary Jo Salter, Nick Flynn and Greg Orr. The winners of the 2008 “Discovery”/Boston Review poetry contest are: Bridgette Bates of Van Nuys, CA; Barbara Claire Freeman of Berkeley, CA; Cynthia Lowen of Provincetown, MA; and Frances Justine Post of New York City.
