The Dance Centre’s popular Discover Dance! noon hour series opens a new season with Vancouver’s spectacular aerial dance company, Aeriosa, in a program of work created for inside a theatre space. Bringing together the athleticism of rock climbing and the grace and artistry of dance, the company uses rope rigging systems to create unique three-dimensional performances that re-interpret gravity, and delight and inspire audiences. For this noon presentation, choreographer and Artistic Director Julia Taffe introduces a program of work developed by the company for the theatre, including excerpts from Being which was performed to great acclaim at Scotiabank Dance Centre’s tenth anniversary last fall. The performance will be followed by a question-and-answer session for artists and audience, providing revealing insights into this exciting dance genre.
