Piven Theatre presents the world premiere production of 'Disappearing Acts: Stories By Nikolai Gogol.' Absurdity runs wild on the streets of St. Petersburg in two classic Nikolai Gogol stories: 'Nose' and 'Overcoat.' The two stories featured in Piven Theatre's production are truly masterpieces of the absurd. 'Nose' tells the fantastical story of a man who discovers his nose has vanished overnight, and his farcical pursuit to reclaim it. 'Overcoat' is at once a poignant and a sharply satirical tale of a poor bureaucrat who sacrifices what little he has in order to buy a magnificent winter coat--and winds up paying an even greater price. 'Disappearing Acts' continues Piven Theatre's long tradition of bold and imaginative literary adaptation and Story Theatre. Adapter and director Stephen Fedo returns to the Piven stage after collaborating with Joyce Piven in previous seasons on adaptations of Chekhov, Malamud, Singer and others.
