Currently residing in San Francisco, DJ Worthy grew up around Washington DC in the early days of Deep Dish, Scott Henry and the early American rave scene. In the late 90's after moving to New York City, Worthy met his good friend Justin Martin and was exposed to the sounds of people like LTJ Bukem, Stacey Pullen, and Sasha. All of these influences made an impression on this young producer as he began to play records of all genres from hip hop to breaks to techno and drum n bass.

In 2001 Worthy set up his studio in San Francisco and began producing house music. He began DJing around the city at clubs such as The Top, Lit, and Anu. Claude VonStroke noticed some of Worthy's tracks and asked him to be a resident DJ at their huge monthly summer event in Golden Gate Park. Worthy has played along side other great DJs such as Jesse Rose, JT Donaldson, Lance Desardi, and Luke Solomon. In 2006 Worthy started his own label called Katabatic Records to give him a way to release his own music. Katabatic Records has been releasing a steady stream of quality tech house and has gaining praises for its edgy music.

2007 is looking to be a break out year for Worthy with two releases coming out on dirtybird including a remix of Claude VonStroke’s “The Whistler” and an ep on Matt Tolfrey’s label Leftroom Limited. Along with new releases on his label Katabatic Records with remixes from Alland Byallo and Christian Martin. If you have not heard of Worthy then you will soon know that he is worthy.

Christian Martin’s love affair with electronic music began in 1995, as an early attendee at Southern California’s now legendary Moontribe full moon desert parties. After absorbing late 90’s club life in New York, London, and Los Angeles, Christian settled in San Francisco in the spring of 2000. He started playing records in 2002 under the tutelage of his brother, Justin Martin, armed with a stack of Justin’s old vinyl and used Technics 1200’s from Sammy D.

In 2003, inspired by the massive desert soundsystems of old, Christian founded the dirtybird soundsystem. Along with co-founders Justin Martin, Worthy, and Claude VonStroke, dirtybird’s Sunday afternoon BBQ’s have quickly become a Golden Gate Park institution.

Along with Christian's residency at dirtybird's monthly club night, he's been busy in the studio, polishing multiple remixes and originals coming out on dirtybird & Katabatic records. 2007 looks to be busier than ever for Christian as he helps shape the future of dirtybird's unique sound.

J.Phlip // Dirtybird / Phonic, San Francisco

Myspace: www.myspace.com/jphlip

J.Phlip, known to most as Jess or Jessica Rose Phillippe, was completely ruined when she discovered house music in her hometown of Champaign, IL just 2 hours south of Chicago. This location might help describe the how or why behind this unique genre bending blend that Phlip brings to the dancefloor. Perhaps it was the proximity to Chicago that let house music make its influence, but the distance that allowed her the freedom to eventually welcome other sounds into her mix. Her sets posses this fun lets-not-forget-this-is-dance-music feeling and simultaneously keeps you guessing as to what might come next. Her collection spans house, tech house, deep house, techno, random bleeps, and special bloops. In 2005 she won ‘Beauty and the Beats’, a national DJ competition help by BPM magazine, that lead to a tour with DJ Rap, Collette, and Reid Speed. since then she has made a name for herself as a DJ in Chicago and now as DJ/Producer in San Francisco.

On her first release for dirtybird, Chicago native J.Phlip has created a track that is both intricate and massive. A wall of devastating bass anchors Rumble Rumble’s assault, bolstered by an effervescent rhythmic net of popcorn snaps, soda cans popping open, and seductive whispers and giggles at the very edge of audibility. J.Phlip has been a pivotal part of Chicago’s electronic music community for many years. J.Phlip has secured a residency at San Francisco’s infamous Endup nightclub that is notoriously know for non-stop never ending parties. Look out for J.Phlip's upcoming releases on Dotbleep and Alland Byallo's Nightlight Music.

Nordic Soul has long been enamored with artistic expression, the creation of music, and the technology that fuses it all together, much to the benefit and evolution of the world of electronica and the underground culture that surrounds it. His healthy obsession began at the age of eleven in Detroit with the gift of his first guitar, got a kick in the ass with the purchase of a keyboard and drum machine during his teenage years, and continues to the present as the king of Seattle techno (founder, director and curator of the Decibel Festival and Decibel productions). Known to his friends as Sean Horton, this DJ, producer, performer, and programmer brought a distinct and dirty Detroit flavor with him to Seattle in the mid-90’s and the musical zeitgeist of the city has been forever transformed by his presence.

Nordic Soul has deeply impacted the electronic community not only through his work for the annual Decibel Festival but also by slaying Seattle dance floors year-round. His emotionally charged sets are infused with live instrumentation and ripe with the mélange of organic and synthesized tones, all riding on top of heavy bass lines. The resulting music is a living, hybrid creature with a rich sense of soul that delights in its own existence. A lover of many musical styles, Nordic Soul’s interest and roots in hip hop, IDM, industrial, and dub contribute to his current musical palette that straight drips techno into the mouths of the waiting audience, thirsty for the unrelenting madness and unabated aural penetration that is electronic music.
