Dinorah de Jesus works with found 16mm footage, hand-scratched and painted, alongside video and digital effects to create layered and visual associations that mirror the experience of dreams, memory, and timelessness. This work is the first in a series of moving image installations wherein she seek to illuminate the ancient ancestral bonds that connect seemingly disparate ethnicities on this planet, even exploring the linkage of human forms with animals, plants and other entities. The piece consists of a row of empty bird cages with projections of digitized, psychedelic, hand-crafted 16mm film and video imagery on the ceiling, accompanied by an audio track of bird calls layered with random sounds and voiceover.De Jesuss aesthetic language incorporates humor, subtlety, and subliminal manipulation through the process of embedded hand-scratched single frames that deliver subconscious propagandistic messages such as just love and sections that are specifically designed (through the use of color and rhythm) to stimulate movement in the chakras, those spinning energetic centers located in the human body.Admission:Opening Reception admission is free for members and $10 for adults.
